The six month course is split into three main phases.
Phase 1. First 12 weeks:
Basic exercises leading to complex improvisation. This work opens students up to the things that ‘get in the way’ of their ability to truthfully relate to themselves and each other. A gradual progression of exercises will develop in complexity and expand your ability to live truthfully in any given imaginary situation. There will also be an introduction to voice work which will progress throughout the whole training. This will be followed by a one weeks rest for all.
Phase 2. Weeks 14 and 15:
will take students out of the classroom for some fresh air. Over these two weeks students will be given experiences to broaden their physical awareness as well as the realities of the commercial world of acting through a series of mock castings and auditions taken by real casting directors and directors. The phase will end with the opportunity to experience performance in front of a live audience. This will be followed by one more week long rest for all (Easter).
Phase 3. The remaining 12 weeks:
will focus on how to take all you have learned so far and apply it to text starting with solo work (more commonly known as ‘monologues’) through to full scenes.
There will be three courses running concurrently: Mornings from 0930 to 1330, Afternoons from 1345 to 1745, and Evenings 1800 to 2200. Students will stay in the same time slot and with the same teacher for the duration of the course. On top of this there will be at least two sessions a week of physical/vocal work. Phase 2, weeks 14 and 15 will be full time for everyone and students would need to clear this time of any other commitments.
After completing this training, students will know exactly how to continually develop themselves as actors and also possess a precise way to approach any acting job that may come their way.
If you would like to be considered for this course, you first need to complete an Introduction Week which lets you meet us and experience our work first hand. Suitable students will be offered places on the six month course on completion of this Introduction Week and an interview. The Introduction Week costs £50 and we will be running them throughout September to November 2010.
The cost of the full six month training is £10,000. The first £3,000 is due on acceptance to the course and the remaining £7,000 at the start of the course in January.
